Inventor Dean Kamen and will.i.am of The Black Eyed Peas launched the FIRST® Robotics Competition (FRC®) 20th anniversary season today with the Kickoff of a new robotics game called “LOGO MOTION™” before a crowd of 600 people at Southern New Hampshire University in Manchester, hometown and headquarters of FIRST. An estimated 50,000 around the world joined the Kickoff via live NASA-TV broadcast and webcast.
“It’s not just about robots,” said FIRST founder Dean Kamen. “It’s about building self-confidence, respect and important relationships with people who invent new technologies to make a better future.”
“I’m inspired by FIRST,” said will.i.am. “I’ve traveled all over the world, and this is the most exciting thing. You are cool, and I’m going to turn it up so everyone knows it.”
